Coal India (CIL) has crossed 500 million tonnes of coal production for the first time in a fiscal. The State-owned company is eyeing to double its production to one billion tonnes by 2020.
The company has an offtake of 504.09 million tonnes, registering a growth of 9.4 per cent compared to last year same period as on March 13, 2016. CIL, which accounts for over 80% of the domestic coal production, is eyeing 550 million tonnes in the ongoing fiscal.
Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications..
